Application to the TYY Executive Board is open!

In TYY Executive Board you make the University of Turku a better place to studyTYY Executive Board is a student’s voice. In the Executive Board, you can influence the learning environment of the University of Turku and build our common student culture and community. In the Board, you work regularly with the university's administration and other key stakeholders to make the University of Turku a better place to study.

The Board is responsible for implementing the Plan of Action, representing the Student Union externally, and exercising general executive authority within the limits and regulations of the Student Union Council. Board members are also responsible for different sectors. These sectors include i.e. academic affairs, social affairs, international affairs, organisational affairs, student culture, sports, corporate collaboration, development cooperation, environment, communication and municipality affairs.

Board work consists flexibly of day and evening activities, but it’s mainly daywork. Board members are paid a monthly remuneration, which is intended to enable the members to concentrate fully on board work.


Are you interested in working in TYY's Board?

Student Union Council will elect the Executive Board 2023 at its meeting on Wednesday, 30 November, 2022. Proposals for the composition of the Board come from the Council Groups. So get in touch with your Council Group and tell them about your interest in working for a better Student Union and the university community.

The work of the Board will last for one year, and the new Board will take office on 9 January 2023. However, the Board's orientation will start already in 2022.

Come to hear more about the TYY Executive Board on 2 November at 18-19. The event will be held at the TYY office (opposite the TYY office). The event will also be offered to participate remotely (https://utu.zoom.us/j/68094319863). The information session offers an overview of what it means to be a part of Executive Board. What next?


Contact your preferred representative group and tell them about your interest in the TYYs Executive Board. It is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the Student Union’s important documentaries. Important documents include, but are not limited to, the Student Union Strategy, Action Plan, Policy Paper, and Budget.

The application process includes the following steps: writing an application, interviews and panel.

Application
To the application, attach the following items:


Basic information:

• Email (not published)
• Phone number (not published)
• Performing Council Group


Text (character limit 2500 characters incl. spaces):
• Who are you?
• Why are you applying to the TYYs Executive Board?
• What types of positions or sectors are you interested in?


List:
• Functions of trust important to the task


The list is not counted against the number of characters in the text part, but is its own separate item. Therefore, don’t count the list according to the limit of 2500 characters.


Advance applications must be submitted by email to Aliisa Wahlsten, Chair of the Council, at alalwa@utu.fi no later than 11:59 p.m. on Monday 8 November 2022. The TEY will publish the information and images of candidates nominated by the groups on the presentation page on 9 November. If there are content in your description or catalogue that you do not wish to be published on the TYY website, please submit a version of your text to alalwa@utu.fi on 8 November 2021 by 11:59 p.m. The applicants' contact details, i.e. telephone number and email address, are not published on the website but are required for communication between the TYY and the candidates.


Interviews


Interviews:

Those who submitted the application are invited for interviews. Interviews are in week 46. We will record the interviews. Members of the TYYs Council can watch the recordings. The recordings will be deleted in December. More detailed instructions for the interview will be sent to the invitees. The interviews are conducted by the TYY Selection Committee, where Jenni Jäntti is chair (jejojan@utu.fi).


Those who submitted application are invited for interviews. Interviews are during week 46. A record of the interviews will be made, which will be possible for members of the TYYs Council to view at agreed times to the TYY Office in order to get to know the candidates for the Board of Directors. Interview videos are for use only by members of the representative council and will be deleted after the application process. More detailed instructions for the interview will be sent after 8th November after the closing date for advance applications. The selection committee of the TYY, chaired by Jenni Jäntti (jejojan@utu.fi), is responsible for interviews.


Panel:

TYY will organize a candidate panel on Monday 25th November starting at 3 p.m. in the Turku campus area (the venue will be announced in more detail later). Candidates will also be briefed on preparing for the panel in more detail after 8 November.
