The Admission Services of the University of Turku together with the International Sector of the Student Union (TYY) wish to invite representatives from subject, faculty, and recreational organisations to join us for an informative and interactive event about international degree students and activities available to them.

Each year approximately 250 new students of the University start their studies in an international degree programme. International degree programmes are Master’s degree programmes which are fully taught in English, and are offerred in most faculties of the University. They are mainly marketed at international prospects and talents. Intl. degree students are different from e.g. the University’s exchange students, because they by default move to Finland for a longer period of time, and the goal of the University and its affiliates is to have the majority of them stay in Finland and find employment here after their studies are finished. In order to find settling in Finland appealing, persons moving here from abroad must be able to build themselves ample social networks: friends, student peers, and colleagues – student organisations can have a large impact on this!

We wish to invite the representatives from different student organisations to join us for a relaxed event in Publicum (Pub 1) on Wednesday the 25th of January 2023 from 16 to 17:30! Before the event, coffee and tea are served in the Publicum lobby for approx. the first 50 attendees. Because of limited space, this invitation is for the chairperson of your board and for your organisation’s person in charge of international affairs. If they are unable to attend, other members of your board are welcome to attend in their stead.

During the event, staff of the University who work closely with intl. degree students give a short introduction to themes related to intl. degree studies, and current intl. degree students will share their experiences about and ideas for international activities of the University. Attendees can also take part in the discussion during the event. The aim of the event is to increase awareness about intl. degree studies and students in the entire University community, and to give practical tips for organisations for international activities.
