TYY

TYY in Ireland

TYY board member and vice chair Akseli visited Ireland and Univerisity College Cork to learn more about sustainability. This is how he describes the trip and experience:

What can universities learn about sustainable development from each other? I traveled to Ireland in september to get to know to  University College Cork (UCC) that has long been a fore runner in sustainable development amongst universities. The trip was a part of the bench learning excersize "Benchlearning sustainability" between UTU and UCC and I traveled together with UTU staff. I was there to represent tha student union and bring out the student perspective. During the two day visit we got to know the campus and hear about how sustainability is visible in UCC`s teaching, research and everyday campus life. I was given the opportunity to present how TYY works towards sustainability and what possibilities do students have to influence the decision made in the university. The trip was a success and I can say this - the university still has things to learn about sustainability. If you are interested to learn more about UCC and sustainability you read about it from UCC webpages.

Unica

Responsibility is the way to work at Unica restaurants. Everyday choices and practical actions are decisive.

For us, responsibility is one of our most important values and it means taking full care of our customers, staff and the environment as well as our own economy.

Examples of our actions

All the electricity we buy is 100% environmentally friendly electricity and produced from renewable energy sources. We refuel our cars with Neste MY diesel. Neste’s MY diesel is 100% renewable and it is made exclusively from waste and residues from industrial processes. We are actively involved in various development projects that advance environmental actions
