First International Council 2026
This year's first International Council will be held alongside the international integration event organised by The Admission Services of the University of Turku. The event is on 3 February from 16.00 to 18.15, at Medisiina, lecture hall Lauren 1.
The invite includes the Chairs and International Representatives of the organisations, and following the official programme, the International Representatives gather at the front of the lecture hall for fifteen minutes. We shall agree on the date for our next meeting, and you will also have the opportunity to suggest topics you would like to discuss at the next International Council, which will be held exclusively among the International Representatives. Further details about the university’s event are provided below.
See you in Medisiina!

Are you familiar with your faculty’s international degree students? Would your organisation want to reach them? Would you like some tips on international activities you could organise?
The Admission Services of the University of Turku wish to invite representatives from subject, faculty, and recreational organisations to join us for an informative and interactive event about international degree students and the activities available to them.
Each year approximately 300 new students of the University start their studies in an international degree programme. International degree programmes are Bachelors and Master’s degree programmes which are fully taught in English, and are offered in most faculties of the University. They are mainly marketed at international prospects. Intl. degree students are different from e.g. the University’s exchange students, because they by default move to Finland for a longer period of time, and the goal of the University and its affiliates is to have the majority of them stay in Finland and find employment here after their studies are finished. In order to find settling in Finland appealing, persons moving here from abroad must be able to build themselves ample social networks: friends, student peers, and colleagues – student organisations can have a large impact on this!
We wish to invite the representatives from different student organisations to join us for a relaxed event in Medisiina (lecture room Lauren 1) on Tuesday the 3rd of February 2026 from 16.00 to 18.00! Because of limited space, this invitation is for the chairperson of your board and for your organisation’s person in charge of international affairs. If they are unable to attend, other members of your board are welcome to attend in their stead. We will ask those attending to register to the event later in the beginning of the year.
The tentative agenda for the event is:
- Introduction
- Panel discussion (with intl. degree students, tutors, representatives from student organisations)
- Workshop
