Welcome to the traditional Independence Day torch procession and wreath laying ceremony on December 6!

TYY, TUO, and ÅAS welcome their organizations to the traditional student Independence Day procession. The festive and traditional procession is a great opportunity for organizations to display their flags on this important day. The event follows a fairly traditional format. Students from TYY, ÅAS, and TUO will gather at Turku Cathedral square, from where we will set off as a single procession towards the heroes' graves at Turku Cemetery.

Schedule and program

The event begins at 3:15 p.m. at Turku Cathedral square, where mulled wine, or glögi, and winter atmosphere await everyone. The procession will assemble at 3:45 p.m. and set off at 4:00 p.m. Security guards will walk at the front and rear of the procession, and traffic controllers will direct traffic at intersections.

The procession will arrive at the cemetery at around 4:45 p.m., followed by a program, which you can read more about below. The program ends at 5:15 p.m., after which there will be bus transportation back to YO-talo A via Lemminkäisenkatu at 5:30 p.m. One bus will return directly to Kåren.
