Call for Members for TYY Wings for the Academic Year 2025–2026

The Student Union of the University of Turku (TYY) is looking for core team members to join its volunteer group, TYY Wings. TYY Wings is a volunteer network built around four themes. Within Wings, you have the freedom to create new activities, shape the student union’s event culture, and advocate for students’ rights both at the university and in society. The Wings core team leads the activities and elects a chairperson team from among its members.

The four themes of TYY Wings are: Internationality, Development Cooperation, Equality, and Environment.

In this application round, you may apply either as a member of the Wings core team or more generally to join Wings activities. We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals for the core team, which will elect a Chairperson from among its members and agree on other responsibilities. The ability to work in a team is required.

  • Application period: September 1 – September 28, 2025 (deadline 23:59)

  • Selection: Applications will be processed by the TYY Board, which will select the Wings members in its meeting on October 3.

  • Eligibility: Students from all campuses, including Pori and Rauma, are welcome to apply.

  • Orientation: New Wings members are invited to an introduction session on Monday, October 13 at 16:00 at the TYY sauna.

Wings Themes

Internationality

  • Promote internationality, local internationalization, and multiculturalism on campus

  • Cooperate with TYY’s organizations and other international groups to organize events supporting the goals of Wings

Development Cooperation

  • Plan and implement TYY’s development cooperation projects in collaboration with TYY’s development cooperation sector

  • Promote the UN Sustainable Development Goals within the student union

  • Organize development cooperation events and campaigns, including TYY’s Sustainable Development Week

Equality

  • Promote equality, equity, and accessibility within the student union and the university, highlighting student diversity

  • Organize events related to equality and inclusion

  • Raise awareness and inform about current issues regarding equality, accessibility, and inclusion

Environment

  • Promote environmentally friendly practices among organizations, students, the student union, the university, and society

  • Provide environmental training for student organizations

  • Organize the annual SiistiVappu (Clean May Day) campaign

  • Monitor and update TYY’s environmental program and environmental guide as needed
