TYY Student Union Council election 2025
The Student Union of the University of Turku will hold elections for the Student Union Council between 27 October and 6 November 2025. The election will select 41 representatives among the eligible members of the TYY to the Student Union Council of the Student Union of the University of Turku, which has the highest decision-making power in the TYY. The two-year term of the Student Union Council will begin in January 2026. An electronic voting system will be used in the election.
Student Union Council to be elected and term
The election will select the representatives and deputy members of the 41-member Student Union Council of the Student Union of the University of Turku in accordance with the election rules approved by the TYY Student Union Council. The term of the student union council to be elected will begin in January 2026 and last until the end of 2027.
Voting period
Voting is possible between 10.00 on 27 October 2025, and 16.00 on 6 November 2025. The election will use an electronic voting system, which requires logging in with a personal ID. A link to the voting address will be available on the TYY website, www.tyy.fi/vaalit, throughout the voting period.
Voting rights, eligibility, and voting
All students enrolled at the University of Turku who are members of TYY are eligible to vote and stand for election. However, permanent employees of the Student Union and persons in managerial positions in the Student Union's companies are not eligible to stand for election. The electronic voting system verifies the right to vote from the electoral register. Each person eligible to vote may cast one vote in the election. The right to vote must be exercised in person.
Electoral register
The electoral register will be published no later than Wednesday, 24 September 2025, At 16.00 on TYY's official notice board and on TYY's website. Any person who meets the voting requirements but is not included in the electoral register must notify the Secretary General by 12.00 on 6 October 2025, if they wish to be included in the electoral register.
Standing as a candidate
You can stand as a candidate by submitting a signed candidate notification form with the correct information to the TYY office on the 1st floor of Ylioppilastalo A (Rehtorinpellonkatu 4 A, 20500 Turku) by Monday, 6 October 2025, at 12.00. The candidate notification can also be submitted as a scanned copy with signatures by email to tyy-vaalit@utu.fi.
Forming an electoral coalition
Two or more candidates have the right to form an electoral coalition. No more than 82 candidates may belong to the same electoral coalition. An electoral coalition is formed by submitting a signed document containing the correct information to the TYY office on the 1st floor of Ylioppilastalo A (Rehtorinpellonkatu 4 A, 20500 Turku) by Monday, 6 October 2025, at 12.00.
Forming an electoral alliance
Electoral coalitions and individual candidates may form an electoral alliance. An electoral alliance is formed by submitting a signed founding document containing the correct information to the TYY office on the 1st floor of Ylioppilastalo A (Rehtorinpellonkatu 4 A, 20500 Turku) by Monday, 6 October 2025, at 12.00.
Candidate list
The candidate list, i.e., the list of candidates, will be published on TYY's notice board by 16.00 on Friday, 10 October 2025.
Election advertising
Election advertising is regulated by the ethical rules for Student Union Council elections approved by the Central Election Committee.
Publication of election results
The unofficial election results will be published on 6 November 2025, after the elections have ended. The official results will be published no later than 21 November 2025, on TYY's official notice board.

Election forms (declaration of candidature, founding document of an electoral coalition, and founding document of an electoral alliance), ethical rules for Student Union Council elections, and election regulations can be found on TYY's website at www.tyy.fi/vaalit. Election forms are also available from the TYY office. A written form that meets the requirements of the election rules is valid even if it has not been drawn up on the basis of the template prepared by the Central Election Committee.
