Apply to become TYY’s candidate for the SYL Executive Board 2026

The SYL Executive Board for 2026 will be elected at the General Assembly on 14–15 November 2025. The board will consist of six members and a chairperson. Board work is full-time and requires residence in the Helsinki metropolitan area. Delegates elected by student unions will vote on the board at the General Assembly.

What is the National Union of University Students in Finland (SYL)?
The National Union of University Students in Finland, SYL, is a student organization that represents approximately 140,000 university students in Finland. Its members are the student unions of all Finnish universities.

SYL advocates for students' rights and voices the concerns of the younger generation in society. Its key areas of influence include educational policy, social policy, and international affairs. In addition, SYL manages matters related to student cards and discounts through its ownership steering, and it provides its member organizations with guidance and training. The primary working language of the union is Finnish.

Want to be TYY’s candidate?
TYY will decide on its candidate(s) for the SYL Board at the Student Council meeting on Wednesday, 10 September 2025, in Rauma. In the meeting, members of the Council groups may nominate individuals to become TYY's candidate(s) for the SYL Board. If you are interested in applying for the SYL Board, please contact the Council group of your choice by 3 September. To be eligible as TYY’s candidate, you must be a member of TYY – that is, a student who has paid the student union membership fee.

The nominated candidates will have the opportunity to introduce themselves to the Student Council, which will select TYY’s official candidate for the SYL Board in its meeting.
