TYY wants to encourage student organisations to develop new activities that bring students together and so, TYY is offering a grant for projects that promote internationalisation. The aim of the grant is to support the integration of international students into the local student community and to encourage student organisations to develop new activities that promote internationalisation at home.
The grant is open to all TYY’s organisations.
What types of projects are eligible for funding?
Internationalisation projects can include events or other new approaches to internationalisation that increase interaction and participation between local and international students in organisational activities. Creativity is encouraged when developing your project!
Projects may include, for example:
- Events that bring together international and local students
- New ways of involving international students in organisational activities
- Development of English-language communication
- Language cafés, mentoring, or other activities that build community
In the assessment of applications, priority will be given to:
- Innovation
- Promoting student well-being
- Supporting TYY’s objectives and values
- Long-term impact (promoting the development of international activities)
- Replicability and transferability for use by other organisations
- Inclusivity of all international students (international degree students, exchange students, post-graduate students, and international trainees)
- Substance-free environment
Grant amount and reporting
TYY will award grants to 1-4 projects, with individual grants ranging from €200 to €2,000, so that the total amount of grants is €2,000 (e.g., 1. Project €500, 2. Project €1,000 and 3. Project €500). Indicate the requested amount (€200–€2,000) in the application. If there are not enough high-quality applications, TYY reserves the right not to award all available funds.
The grant is paid after the project based on receipts and a report submitted by the organisation. External funding for the project is considered a merit and will not reduce the grant unless it covers all project expenses. If the applicant requires advance payment in full or in part, this must be agreed in advance (please indicate this in the application).
Grant recipients are required to submit a project report to TYY, including an evaluation of the project’s implementation and outcomes. The report must be submitted by the end of the year. TYY will provide a reporting template. Project reports will be published on the TYY website as examples for other organisations.
Visibility and other conditions
The grant recipient must provide visibility for TYY during the implementation of the project. The TYY logo must be included in the marketing material.
If the project plan changes significantly after submitting the application, the changes must be approved by TYY’s Specialist in International Affairs. Otherwise, the grant may not be paid. A Finnish bank account is required for payment. Grants will not be awarded for business activities or fundraising.
Application and timetable
The application period is from 26 June to 21 September 2026. Applications are submitted using an electronic form. The form closes on Monday, 21 September at 23.59.
Applications must include a description of the project, a timetable, and a full budget. The proposal for selected projects will be prepared by TYY’s International Affairs sector, and the final decision will be made by the Executive Board.
The project must be completed by the end of the year, as the funding is allocated for 2026.
Note: TYY’s project and special grants are separate from this call. This call is only for projects related to international activities.
