The University will gradually return to contact teaching from 31 January 2022

The Government of Finland negotiated about the Covid-19 strategy on 18 January 2022.

To safeguard the capacity of the healthcare system, the Government decided to extend the validity of the current restrictive measures and recommendations for two weeks, or until mid-February. As an exception to this general policy, the Government will not extend the validity of its recommendations on distance learning in higher education when it end on 31 January 2022.

"We are happy with the government's decision. Of course, it would have been desirable for Government not to recommend distance learning to universities at all this January." Camilla Saarinen, the Chair of TYY’s Executive Board, states.

The coronavirus management team of the University of Turku has decided that, starting from 31 January 2022, the University will gradually return to contact teaching while closely observing the safety measures. The remote work policy is in force until 15 February. TYY wants to thank the university management for its quick response to the changing situation and genuine effort to return to contact teaching as soon as possible.

At TYY, the yellow time is still valid and we follow the Regional State Administrative Agency’s decisions when deciding TYY’s guidelines. Regional State Administrative Agency's current decisions are effective until 28 January.
