TYY newsletter takes a break in spring 2022

Due to website renewal and changes in our staff TYY newsletter will take a little break during the next few weeks. We will still inform you about important issues via tyy-international mailing list and you can read news from our web pages. The newsletter will be back soon.

TYY's communication specialist Frida wants to thank all the readers of the newsletter and wishes you happy springtime.

sTYYlish One Hundred event and after party

Thursday 31 March we are celebrating the opening of the Anniversary on University Hill (Yliopistonmäki). The event is organised together with TYY's organisations and the University of Turku, and all students, alumni, university’s faculty and citizens of Turku are welcome.

“The anniversary year will be kicked off with a carnival-like festival. As usual, you can get to know the organisations, and there will be a live music and more on the main stage. The after party brings us all together in Night Club Marilyn and Vegas. You don’t want to miss this party”, describes Juho Pitkäranta, TYY's Board member responsible of Student Culture.

Main performer will be Finnish rap group Gasellit. Free entry. Tickets for after party 3 euros.

When: 31 March 5 pm
Where: University Hill (Yliopistonmäki)

Time to apply for TYY 0.7% funding for 2022

The Student Union of the University of Turku is committed to donating 0.7% of its operating budget to development cooperation. The amount is divided between two organisations and the amount donated this year is about € 2700 per organisation. TYY is now looking for one donation target for 2022. The grant is to be used for 2022 activities.

In 2022, we donate half of the 0.7 % to our joint project with the Global Dry Toilet Association of Finland in Zambia and we are now looking for a second target to donate the remaining half of 0.7 %

Apply to become a sports tutor

Recruitment of CampusSport’s sports tutors for the academic year of 2022-2023 takes place 10 March - 31 March 2022. Tutor is a peer exerciser: a student who encourages other students to exercise. You do not have to be an expert or a professional athlete – it is enough that you are interested in sports. Tutoring season lasts for an academic year. Sports tutors are part of CampusSport’s low-threshold services that aim at making exercising as approachable as possible. In addition, as a sports tutor you will get experience in organizing events and speaking in public. And the most important thing: you will meet great people and get wonderful experiences!

We are looking for student representatives!

We are a project funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland. Our goal is to develop biodiversity education in the universities of Helsinki, Turku, Oulu, Jyväskylä and Eastern Finland.

We are looking for 6-8 student representatives. We want the representatives to share their opinions and suggestions for us to consider and use when we are developing biodiversity courses. We are looking for students with different academic backgrounds, so that we can have as diverse viewpoints as possible.

If you are interested about studying biodiversity topics and you want to take part in developing higher education of biodiversity topics in Finnish universities you should apply.

It is possible to get 1-2 credits for participating to this project as a student representative. This project will continue until the end of 2022.
