Camilla Saarinen elected as Chair of the TYY Executive Board for 2022

At its meeting on 24 November, TYY Student Union Council elected the Executive Board for 2022. A new Chair and Vice-Chair of the Student Union Council were also elected.
 
Camilla Saarinen (Ryhmä Lex) was elected as Chair of the TYY Executive Board. Saarinen is a student of law and political history and has served on TYY Executive Board 2020 and SYL's board 2021.
 
The following people were elected to Executive Board led by Saarinen:
  • Tuomas Alm, TSE-lista                                                                                          
  • Veera Pajunen, Hybridiaani   
  • Juho Pitkäranta, TSE-lista                                               
  • Akseli Tiitta, TSE-lista                            
  • Arvi Tolvanen, Kokoomus        
  • Siiri Turunen,  Kokoomus   

The Student Union Council also appointed a new Chair and Vice-Chair among their members

Aliisa Wahlsten (Hybridiaani) was elected as Chair and Sofia Saarinen (Soihdunkantajat) as Vice-Chair of the Student Union Council for 2022.
 

Suvituuli Lundmark and Jenna Rautionaho from TYY were elected as members of SYL's Executive Board

The General Assembly of the National Union of University Students in Finland (SYL), which represents the approximately 130,000 students at Finnish universities, has elected a new Board for 2022. The General Assembly also made decisions on next year’s Plan of Work and SYL’s finances.

The new SYL President is Konstantin Kouzmitchev, AYY, aged 24.

As well as the President, the General Assembly also elected six Board Members:

  • Katariina Henttonen, LYY
  • Tuomas Karvonen, TREY
  • Elina Kuula, LYY
  • Suvituuli Lundmark, TYY
  • Tiina Pajukari, AYY
  • Jenna Rautionaho, TYY

TYY International Award 2021

Every year, we choose an organisation that has done exemplary work in involving international students in their activities. The winner of the award is an organisation that communicates in English in addition to Finnish, takes care of international students' interests and has perhaps attracted international students in its activities, either as an active organiser or participant.

You can suggest your own organisation or any other organisation that meets the criteria. TYY International Wing is involved in the selection of TYY International Award.

Is your tutor someone who has made your stay in Finland more comfortable?

Besides picking you up upon your arrival and introducing the campus area, Supertutor is helpful and knowledgeable and always there to answer your tricky questions about Finnish student life or everyday practical matters. Supertutor brings people together and creates positive team spirit and is happy to help new students.

Suggest International Supertutor!

If your tutor meets these criteria and has other good qualities, suggest him/her to TYY! On the basis of the best suggestions, excellent tutors will be proclaimed as the Supertutor and the International Supertutor of the University of Turku.

TYY is looking for organisations in its Hall of  Fame 2021 in 6 different categories: academic affairs, social affairs, events and student culture, sense of community, International affairs and well-being.

Changes to students' UTU user account validity period starting from January 2022 

Starting from January 2022, student’s UTU user account will close in two months after graduation or other study right end date, if there is no other basis for account continuation.

Starting from January 2022, there will be changes to students' user account validity period after graduation or other study right end date, if no other basis for account continuation exists. For example, when a student graduates on March 15th, the account will be closed on May 15th.
