Suggest University's Language Deed of the Year 2021
The University's Language Deed of the Year will be awarded to a person, group, unit or other entity that adapted and significantly advanced the implementation of the Language Policy of the University of Turku. The winning deed can contain different insights into how the language policy and the idea of multilingualism have been promoted at the University of Turku. The deed could have been launched at any time, as long as it still has an effect on the University community. In addition to the recognition, the winner of the Language Deed of the Year receives a money prize.
The University's Working Group on Language Matters is looking for nominees for the Language Deed of the Year 2021. Send your suggestion and justifications for the nomination through the link below by Friday, 14 May 2021. The Working Group on Language Matters selects the winner on the basis of the suggestions and the winner is announced at the University's Opening Carnival in September.

Vappu Speech 2021 by Aliisa Wahlsten, The Chair of The Executive Board of The Student Union of The University of Turku
Again, it is the time of the year when it is good to stop for a moment, reflect on how the world is going, raise your glass and celebrate spring and the coming summer! A wonderful Vappu just for you! I hope you have created for yourself a nice Vappu that takes into account the prevailing situation. Thank you also for finding time for this nearly hundred-year-old tradition!
Time is limited for everyone. Have you already wondered what you have spent your time on in the past year? Has the way you spend your time changed with the global pandemic? Some students enjoy that they can do their studies in the woods on a jog or even in the summer cottage. Some of us miss commuting and office noises that used to be just annoying before. However, we are individuals. And the truth is, the year has affected us in very different ways.

The application time for the wings has been extended until 10 May
Wings are a part of the Student Union and their goal is to make the Student Union a better place for everyone. In the Wings, you have the freedom to create new free time activities for students and to take care of students’ interests. The Wings are based on four different themes: development cooperation, environment, equality, and internationality.
We are looking for regular members. We expect the applicants to have motivation and enthusiasm for the task and the ability to work in a group. You can apply for several Wings but become selected only in one Wing. You can apply for the autumn semester 2021 or the academic year 2021–2022. We expect the regular members to commit to the wing at least for the autumn semester. Students in Pori and Rauma campus can also apply for the wings.
The application period ends on 10 May at 23.59.
