Answer the survey and help us to find out the impacts of the exceptional situation caused by Covid-19 on students of the University of Turku
The aim of this survey is to review the impact of the state of emergency caused by Covid-19 on students’ lives. The responses are utilised to promote the well-being, ability to study and teaching activities at the University of Turku. The Student Union of the University of Turku (TYY) has prepared the survey in cooperation with the management of the University of Turku and Study and Work Well-being Services.
TYY's rental premises will be opened with exceptional arrangements from 1 June
Due to the exceptional situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Regional State Administrative Agencies (Aluehallintovirasto) have imposed restrictions on the organisation of public events. According to the Regional State Administrative Agencies, public events and general meetings of less than 50 people are allowed from 1 June 2020.
The maximum number of people at TYY's rental premises has been temporarily redused in order to comply with the restrictions carried out by the Regional State Administrative Agencies. At the same time, sufficient safety distances in relation to the size of the premises are maintained.
Answer our questionnaire on municipal politics and help us to prepare for local elections!
We have started to prepare ourselves for the local elections of spring 2021! Municipal politics affect many things that concern students in our campus cities. Group 40 000, the voice of students in Turku, collects students' views about Turku via questionnaire. The questionnaire is carried out in cooperation with Study in Turku -network. One can answer it by 31 May in Finnish, Swedish or in English. The questionnaire aims to map thoroughly topics that concern students in institutions of higher education, such as housing, health care, services and locomotion.
Suggest the best teacher and the best course of the year 2020
Good teaching and counselling are core tasks of the University. We are looking for candidates of highly qualified teaching and well-operating courses of 2019-2020. The proposals coming from students and colleagues are a great way to show appreciation for the proposed candidates. The Teacher of the Year has been selected since 1994 and the Course of the Year since 2006. With the chosen candidates we can promote the importance of good teaching and guidance in the community. Suggestions for Teacher of the Year and the Course of the Year should be sent by filling in the online form by 31st May.
University of Turku: Exit Plan for Exceptional Circumstances Caused by Coronavirus
The University's exit planning has to be flexible so that it is also applicable in situations where the restrictions on contact teaching or gatherings and events are also in force in the autumn or into year 2021. Teaching in the next academic year can be partly or largely conducted remotely if the epidemic situation requires it. The University also strives to prepare for an extended suspension of activities or for setting new restrictions.
We are looking for student representatives to different positions.
Student-priced lunch from Unica Restaurants
From 1 June you can get student priced-lunches from Assarin Ullakko, Deli Pharma and Tottisalmi. Unica's mobile services Kaara and Kiska are no longer available in June. From the restaurants that are open you can also get take away lunches with student prices.

How to make our university more sustainable? Share your ideas via the Viima survey
The University of Turku emphasises sustainable development and responsibility as an embedded, cross-cutting theme in the new strategy and policy programme. University of Turku aims at committing to foster sustainable development in all its activities – in education, research, societal interaction and in everyday campus life. Now the university community has an opportunity to influence the activities in sustainable development by responding to the Viima survey by 5th of June.
The ideas and comments of the Viima survey will be brought up for discussion in the university`s carbon neutrality project group and the Steering Group for Sustainable Development after which they will be submitted to the management of University Central Services units and the university Rectorate. The community will be informed about the progress in autumn.
