TYY's Service Desk and Starting Package Storage were opened on 14 May

The functions of the Student Union of the University of Turku will be restored following the Government's guidelines as of 14 May 2020. TYY Service Desk will be open from Monday to Friday from 12 to 14. Opening hours of Starting Package Storage ypu can see from the link below. Those arriving at Service Desk or Starting Package Storage. must take care of proper hygiene and keep 1.5-metre distance. Answer our questionnaire on municipal politics and help us to prepare for local elections!

We have started to prepare ourselves for the local elections of spring 2021! Municipal politics affect many things that concern students in our campus cities. Group 40 000, the voice of students in Turku, collects students' views about Turku via questionnaire. The questionnaire is carried out in cooperation with Study in Turku -network. One can answer it by 31 May in Finnish, Swedish or in English. The questionnaire aims to map thoroughly topics that concern students in institutions of higher education, such as housing, health care, services and locomotion.

FinnWID ry and Swallows of Finland TYY's 0.7% targets of 2020

Every year, TYY directs 0.7 per cent of its operating funds to development cooperation. TYY has elected FinnWID - Women in Development Cooperation and Swallows of Finland (Pääskyt ry) as 0.7% targets of 2020. FinnWID is fighting against human trafficking in Nigeria, and Swallows of Finland has a development project to improve the food security and livelihood of local communities in Nepal.

University of Turku Reopening Process Started on 14 May 

The University of Turku follows authorities' instructions and begins the reopening process of its operations in active collaboration with other universities starting from 14 May. Exiting the measures required by the exceptional circumstances will take place in accordance with the University's exit plan. According to the main points of the exit plan, remote work will continue at least over the summer in those work tasks where it is possible. Remote teaching and studying will continue until 31 July. The entrance exams will be organised according to the plans published on 30 April. Reopening research activities will be discussed more closely with the faculties.

Student - take part in development of Students Services by answering this survey!

In recent years in many higher education institutes are aiming to digitalize their student services. Digitalization and development in general is also being considered at the University of Turku - and now we need your opinion on what should be done! ​We have created a survey regarding the University's Student Services (you can answer the survey even if you have never used student services). The survey examines in which matters you would have needed more support during your studies, how would you like to be reached out and other requests you may have for the services. Answering the survey is anonymous. The results of the survey will be used to develop Student Services. It takes about 15 minutes to complete the survey.

Explore the Climate Change and Refugees photo exhibition virtually

Photographer Outi Neuvonen's photo exhibition on climate change and refugees is available on the Finnish Refugee Council’s website. The photo exhibition was to be on display at the University of Turku during the Week against racism, but the event had to be cancelled due to the corona.

Photographer Outi Neuvonen travelled to Uganda in the autumn of 2019 to study the connection between the environment, climate and refugees through photography. The Photo Exhibition Climate Change and Refugees highlights refugees’ experiences of the impact of climate change on their daily lives. The exhibition produced by the Finnish Refugee Council can be viewed via a link on the Finnish Refugee Council website.

How to make our university more sustainable? Share your ideas via the Viima survey

The University of Turku emphasises sustainable development and responsibility as an embedded, cross-cutting theme in the new strategy and policy programme. University of Turku aims at committing to foster sustainable development in all its activities – in education, research, societal interaction and in everyday campus life. Now the university community has an opportunity to influence the activities in sustainable development by responding to the Viima survey by 5th of June.

The ideas and comments of the Viima survey will be brought up for discussion in the university`s carbon neutrality project group and the Steering Group for Sustainable Development  after which they will be submitted to the management of University Central Services units and the university Rectorate. The community will be informed about the progress in autumn.
