Miika Tiainen was elected Chair of the Student Union of the University of Turku Executive Board 2017

Miika Tiainen is a student of Information systems science and active member of many organisations. During 2016 Tiainen served as a Vice-Chair of the Student Union Executive Board with responsibility for social affairs and communications.

Elected members of the Student Union Executive Board of 2017 are Ali Benkherouf, Inari Harjuniemi, Saana Kallio, Laura-Maria Poikela, Janne Salakka and Matias Virta.

Ali Benkherouf is the first International Degree Student elected as member of the Student Union of the University of Turku Executive Board. Benkherouf is a student of Biomedical.

Influential communication for international students also next year

TYY has worked hard this year to improve its communication for the international students. International students’ feedback is vital for us and this year international students’ opinions have been especially helpful. TYY thanks all the international students for participating in the surveys this year. The winner of 2 movie tickets have been contacted via e-mail.

Sub-organisation, remember to fill out the declaration form!

In order to retain the sub-organisation status, all of the student union's sub-organisations are obligated to fill out the sub-organisation declaration form once a year. The time to do that is now. To fill out the declaration form, you need to log in to the TYY website.

The Student Union of the University of Turku wishes to thank you for your stay in Turku. We hope you have enjoyed your time as a student with us!

We are happy if you want to hear from TYY even after your time in Turku is over. If you want to unsubscribe from our mailing list notice that everyone who has joined this list has to unsubscribe from it him/herself.

 

 

What to do before going home?

Time has passed quickly and it is soon time to say good-bye. International Office would like to remind you of some important matters to take care of before you leave. The matters does NOT apply to students staying in Turku for the Spring Semester.

Student Christmas 2016

It is Christmas time! You are welcome to celebrate Student Christmas on 24th of December, with traditional Finnish Christmas cuisines, games, music and enjoyment of warm Christmas spirit. There will be also Christmas Sauna. Santa Claus might be in town as well…

Student Christmas is meant for all students of TUAS, Åbo Akademi, UTU, Novia, HUMAK and international students in Turku. Event is free of charge. Please remember that Student Christmas is alcohol free event. Event will be held at TYY:n sauna.

Bill to eradicate organised racism must be made immediately

Tomorrow without fear -campaign’s petition has been signed by 32 000 Finns. This shows without doubt that Finnish people want to put stop to organised racist activity. Tomorrow without fear – organised racism to the Penal Code is a disengaged citizen campaign which has as its goal to show that we are not afraid of being different and that racist activity has no place in our society.
