The Government of Finland decided to increase the maximum price of a subsidized meal for university students for the first time in eight years.
The price of a student meal at Unica restaurants is 2.90 euros from the beginning of September.
With a moderate increase, Unica will continue to provide a high-quality and varied lunch service, and ensure the competitiveness of the student-owned company also in the future.
Unica restaurants has discussed the checked price with its majority owner the University of Turku Student Union (TYY) as well as with The student union of the Turku University of Applied Sciences – TUO.
Pressure to check the prices of student lunches is based on the Government’s decision to increase the maximum price of student meals without increasing the meal subsidy paid to restaurants. Next TYY wants the government to increase the meal subsidy too.
