TYY donated its 0,7 % second part to Guatemala and Somaliland

TYY donated during Development Cooperation week the rest of its 0,7% donations of 2015 to carefully chosen development cooperation projects in Somaliland and Guatemala.

TYY to donates annually 0,7% of its operating funds to development cooperation. In 2015 the projects are SYL’s (National Union of University Students in Finland) project in Guatemala and International Solidarity Foundation’s (ISF) project in Somaliland. TYY donates 0,7% in two parts, the first part was paid at the end of the spring semester and second part now during Development Cooperation Week. In total 0,7% in 2015 generates € 5077.

The long-term goal of SYL’s Guatemala project is to improve the social status and income of Mayan women and to reduce income equalities between different population groups.

Solidarity Foundation’s Somaliland project contributes to the socio-economic recovery and the rebuilding of the country by supporting its democratic development, improving job opportunities for young people and women and by focusing on the inclusion and participation of women in the economic life as well as in society and decision making.
