TYY is searhing for a member and a deputy member for the Equality Comittee of the University of Turku. The term of the committee is 1.1.2017–31.12.2019.
The task of the Equality Committee is to advance and monitor the implementation and development of equality and diversity at the University. In addition to attending the meetings, student representatives are expected to familiarise themselves with the documents of the meetings beforehand as well as meeting with the executive board member of TYY who is responsible for equality issues before and after the committee meetings. The student representative is also expected to write a report of the committee meetings for TYY.
Search for student representatives will begin on Thursday, 17 Nov 2016. One may stand as a candidate for membership in the Equality Committee of the University of Turku by filling an electronic form found at TYY website (www.tyy.fi) by Sunday, 11 Dec 2016 at 23.59. If the number of applicants is higher than the number of seats in the Equality Committee, the specialist for social affairs will draft a proposal for TYY Executive Board on the elected. The Board will elect the student representatives in their meeting on Thursday, 15 Dec 2016.
The following criteria will be observed in the election of student representatives in the Equality Committee of the University of Turku: motivation and interest in advancing and promoting equality and diversity, studies in equality and/or diversity issues, previous experience in promoting student interests in TYY organisations and university administration, balanced representation of different faculties and balanced gender distribution of student representatives in the organ.
According to TYY’s regulation, people with the right to complete a lower university degree, higher university degree, licentiate or doctoral degree, specialist degree in medicine or degree in dental science in the University of Turku are eligible for application. The eligible applicants must also be registered as present in the university. People who have a full-time employment of at least twelve months at the university are not eligible to apply. The limit of full-time employment is considered 30 hours per week.
According to TYY's Regulation on the election of student representatives, the number of posts of student representatives in the administration is limited to three posts per person. The limitation does not apply to internal working groups of faculties or departments. This entry is intended to ensure balanced distribution of the posts of student representatives in the administration.
