The traditional Celebration Meeting of the Student Union Council was held on the anniversary day of the Student Union of the University of Turku on 9 November. Porthan's day was also celebrated on the same day. The flag parade to H. G. Porthan's statue has been a tradition since the foundation of TYY in 1922.

At the Celebration Meeting of the Student Union Council, the greeting of city of Turku was given by both Lauri Kattelus, Chair of the City Board, and Elina Rantanen, Chair of the City Council. Both recalled their own study times in their speeches and reminded that Turku is truly a student city.

At the Celebration Meeting of the Student Union Council, the Council granted marks of honour and recognition active students and stakeholders. The Chair of Honour Committee, Lotta Aarikka declared the recipients.

"It's great to be able to reward people for a job well done. However, it is good to remember also that those who did not receive the mark of honour this time also deserve acknowledgment” Aarikka said at the event.

At the end of the meeting, Lassi Laine, Chair of the Student Union Council, thanked the councilors for their work and welcomed new elected councilors. In the speeches on the Celebration Meeting there was a strong emphasis on the importance of communality in the Student Union. For that we want to work hard in the future as well.
