DEPARTMENT COUNCILS WILL BE DISSOLVED
In a meeting on 15 Feb, the University of Turku Board has decided, as part of the University strategy for 2013–2016, to dissolve the tripartite Department Councils. Because of the dissolution, TYY has decided to close the search for student representatives in the Department Councils and to continue the terms of the current student representatives until further notice. The Department Councils will probably be compensated by strengthening the role of the preparatory organs at the level of schools or groups of schools, but no precise plans for the period after Department Councils has yet been made.

APRILLIROCK - SEARCH FOR ARTISTS
The TYY Committee on Cultural Issues will organise on 29th Mar Aprillirock competition at Klubi, in which artist get to show their talent in front of an audience and a jury. The music style, language, or whether you play alone or in a band is not relevant. Instead, you need to believe in yourself and want to have a good time. The majority of the songs should be your own and not covers. No prior experience is required, so everyone is welcome to join!
You will get about half an hour to play on stage, as well as coverage in the event marketing. The most convincing and entertaining artist will get to perform for hundreds of people at the Vappu Picnic on 1 May. In addition to the winner, the audience's choice will get a prize.
If you or one of your band mates is a member of the University of Turku Student Union, register yourself or your band by 2 Mar to Johanna Keronen, representing the TYY Committee on Cultural Issues, at jkeron@utu.fi, and include the following information:
Name of the artist/band
Artist/band homepage address (e.g. MySpace)
Music genre
Band members and instruments
Name, phone number and email address of the contact person (preferably a member of TYY)
The selection of performers will be made at week 10.
