ANNA KAHRA SECRETARY FOR INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS STAND-IN
Beginning November, Anna Kahra will start as Secretary for International affairs stand-in as the current secretary Heidi Tukia will go on study leave.
Kahra has diverse experience in the TYY international and development cooperation sectors. She has been the TYY Committee on International Affair Chair, Committee on Development Cooperation member and ESN division secretary. She was also the TYY representative in the AJAGI project trip in Mexico.

TYY COMMENTS ON SYL UNION MEETING DOCUMENTSThe Board of TYY made a comment, at its 9 October meeting, on the documents of the National Union of Finnish University Students (SYL) union meeting. SYL asked its member unions for proposals on its political position, plan of action and organisational development strategy in the form of an official statement.
The final documents will be approved at the SYL union meeting from 20 to 21 November in Korpilampi.

TYY MEETS WITH INTERNATIONAL MASTER'S PROGRAMME COORDINATORS
The TYY academic affairs and international affairs sectors met with the University of Turku master degree programme coordinators on Monday, 5 October.
The purpose of the meeting was to assess any problems concerning master degree programmes. Issues discussed were, for example, housing of international degree students, language studies, English-language communication and information, the level of the programmes and teachers as well as the programmes' relation to work life. On the basis of the conversation that was gone through at the meeting, TYY will continue its impact work for the development services that are provided for international degree students as well as master degree programmes.
OLD STUDENT UNION COUNCIL MEETING WEDNESDAYThe old Student Union Council will convene on Wednesday, 21 October at 18.15 in Turku-sali. On the agenda are the decision on Turku Student Newspaper editor-in-chief stand-in, selection for the SYL union meeting and a discussion on the documents.
FIRST PROJECT SUPPORT GRANTED FOR AUTUMN
TYY granted its first project support to its sub-organisations for autumn. The decision can be found at http://tyy.fi/alayhdistykset/palvelut-yhdistyksille/avustukset
In order to apply for the last project support for the year, the sub-organisations must submit their applications by 15 November.
WELL-BEING WEEK 26-29 OCTOBER
Students' Well-Being Week will be held at all the universities in Turku and Turku University of Applied Sciences from 26 to 29 October. The programme includes ambient lunchtimes at the cafeterias, monitoring blood pressure and blood sugar, jogging and sauna and an alcohol-free sitsit.

TYY COMMITTEE ON CULTURAL ISSUES PRESENTS "REFORMISM 2000" ON 27 OCT AT TVO
TYY Committee on Cultural Issues is organising Culture Club on 27 October at TVO (Student House C) starting at 18.00.
The Culture Club theme this year will be machines, electronics and the future. The evening will start with Mika Taanila's film, after which Jussi Sutinen will warm up the crowd for the refrigerator magnet poetry world championship. In addition, a time capsule will be put together, you can take advantage of the Academic Nintendo Club gear and enjoy video poetry and pictures of the past and future on the TVO walls.
The crowing event of the futuristic evening is the experimental machine music of Skweee-artisti Claws Costeau. DJs Anzi Passato and Fossa will also be spinning. The entrance fee for the event is €2.00.

Do you want to meet new people? Do you like to chat, play board games or listen to music?TYY, TuKY and ÅÅS are organising hangout spaces, with a completely free-form programme of activities where you can chat, play games etc. Juice, coffee and tea will be served for a open programme of alcohol-free activities.

TYY INTERNATIONAL SECTOR UPDATETYY international sector has been working on the Plan of Action for the year 2010 and the updating of the Political agenda of TYY. Both documents will be discussed in the meeting of the new Student Union Council next week.
ESN TYY and ESN TuKY (Turku School of Economics) will merge in the beginning of the next year. In the same time ESN TYY will become a registered association. A working group has been writing rules for new association and taking care of the registering process. Despite the registering, ESN TYY will continue arranging happenings and programme for international students as it has done before.
