TYY Committee on Environmental Issues
The TYY Committee on Environmental Issues (Ympäristövaliokunta) is the most vital component in the environmental sector of the Student Union. The Committee acts in close relation with the Student Union Council and TYY Executive Board. The fundamental goal of the Committee is to organize activities which encourage an ecological way of living and which offers the possibility to learn and discuss topics concerning anything that has to do with the way we treat the world around us.
Everyone is welcome to participate in the activities and meetings organised by the TYY Committee on Environmental Issues. The best way to get to know its current activities development is to contact the chairperson Taru Tuomisto (tartuo@utu.fi) or to attend a meeting.

A survey for improving bike and pedestrian traffic
TYY Committee on Environmental Issues is working for a more biker and pedestrian friendly campus. For this cause, we have created a quick survey about improving bike and pedestrian traffic on the campus area. Answering the survey takes only a couple of minutes. The results are to be published by the end of this year.

Car-Free day
On Thursday 22. of September the TYY Committee on Environmental Issues with the help of the guys from Aurinkotehdas used bike shop are quick fixing (filling the tyres, raising the saddle etc.) bikes in front of the YO-talo A (next to the Assarin ullakko cafeteria). There will aso be some coffee and a survey for improving the conditions of using a bike on the campus area.

Become a member
The members of the committee are elected yearly at the Student Union Council meeting. The committee has meetings approximately once in a month and the meetings are held in English if necessary. You can attend the meetings even as a non-member.
