TYY Library

The TYY Library is located on the second floor of the Student House B.  (Rehtorinpellonkatu 4 B, 2nd floor, 20500 Turku). Directions: You should first go to the Student House A. After that walk to the 3rd floor and to the end of the long corridor. Then take the stairs down 1½ floors. TYY library is located in the 2nd floor of Student House B.

You can browse the library catalogue though the University of Turku Library database Volter.

Opening hours: Mondays from 14.00 to 18.00 and Tuesday to Friday from 10.00 to 14.30. 

Open until 7.6.

Book returns during opening hours only.

The TYY Library is open to everyone

Loans can be made with a student card or University of Turku library card

Library loans are for 28 days during each semester; loans in May can be returned at the beginning of September Loans can be renewed either though Volter or by directly calling the TYY Library There is a late fee of €0.30 per business day for each late book The TYY Library uses the common suspension of borrowing rights with the University of Turku libraries Long distance lending services is available with the exception of the university Course Book Library There is a mail slot on the library door where books can be returned when the library is closed

The TYY Library operates as kirjasto_yleinen.jpgpart of the University of Turku Library network. The TYY volumes are listed last under the availability under the holdings section in your search. All of the books in the library are available as an open-shelf collection. In other words, they are available for loan without a separate request slip. With the exception of new newspaper and journals issues, all of the books in the TYY Library collection are available for loan.

The library collection focuses on offering basic course books there are also other books in its collected works of close to 10,000 volumes. There is a possibility to read journals and e-mail in the library, however there is no photocopier.

The TYY Library is the only public library in Finland owned by a student union. The Student Union received a donation of books from the estate of Doctor Arne Tarén and the library was established on 10 February 1928 for the utilisation of this contribution. The library collection is maintained by TYY’s own resources and with the help of outside donations.
