Student Loan Fund
TYY has a loan fund for its members to use. Each member can get a maximum of a €200 small loan and a maximum of a €500 large loan.
Loans are authorised upon signature of two co-signers in good financial standing. Neither the co-signers nor the borrower may have loans or any other debts to TYY when applying for a loan. All loans require a €13.00 loaning fee and Euribor 12 months+ 3 percent annual interest rate for the loaning period. The interest rate will be determined according to the borrower’s time-frame of the loan given in the application.
Loan applications are available at the TYY Service Desk (Student House A, 1st floor) or from the Specialist in Social Affairs. The form has the terms and conditions of the loan and application instructions. These are in Finnish, so the TYY Secretary for Social Affairs will be more than happy to help those who don’t speak Finnish in filling out the application. Applications for loans can be submitted to the TYY Service Desk.
Small and large loans: A small loan can be taken out for no more than four months and the maximum amount of the loan is €200. The co-signers’ income is not required for taking out a small loan. A large loan can be taken out for a maximum of six months and can be no more than €500. The co-signers must show that they have a monthly income of at least €850, which must be appended with the application (e.g. a copy of a monthly pay slip).
When submitting the loan application, the student must present his or her valid TYY student card and ID with. Small and large loans are granted each week during the semesters.
On request, the Specialist in Social Affairs can send the loan application to students in Pori and Rauma by post.
