Lyyra Student Card

The Lyyra student card is the Student Union membership card. Lyyra-kortti

As cardholder, you will be entitled to several services and benefits:

  • Library card of the University of Turku Library integrated in your student card
  • Free-of-charge general practitioner and reasonably priced specialist services at Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS)
  • Student-priced meals at student cafeterias and cafés
  • Discounted train and bus fares as well as many other benefits
     

Both local and national student benefits can be found on the Lyyra website. You should also ask about student discounts at other places of business.


Ordering the card

The card must be ordered online. The processing of the card will be noticeably faster with a digital picture. It’s worth it to order the card as early as possible so that you can fully make use of your student benefits.

The card can be processed when you have completed the following steps:
 

  • you have paid the Student Union membership fee
  • you have registered as attending with the University of Turku
  • you have ordered and paid for the card (price €16,60) 

When your Lyyra student card has been processed, you will receive either an e-mail or text message stating that it is ready for pick up at the TYY Service Desk.

Unfortunately, due to the large amount of orders, student card processing may be quite slow in the beginning of autumn. New cards will probably be ready for pick up mid-September. 


Annual sticker

In order for your student card to be valid, you are required to have a sticker for the semester or academic year. You can pick up the sticker at the TYY Service Desk after registration - that is, paying the membership fee.

When getting the sticker, your registration information is reviewed in the University of Turku study register. A valid ID is also required. Bank payment is seen in the study register within a few days after paying the membership fee. You should take this into account when getting your sticker. The sticker is affixed only to the Student Union’s own student cards.

If you cannot come to pick up a new sticker, you can send your student card and return envelope addressed to the TYY Service Desk. Your student card will be sent back to you.
