CONSUMPTION & DEVELOPMENT - development cooperation theme week
The national development co-operation theme week is celebrated on 3–9 October on the university campuses in Helsinki, Jyväskylä, Tampere, and Turku.
The student unions’ national development co-operation theme week is organised for 3–9 October on university campuses in Helsinki, Tampere, Turku and Jyväskylä. This year, the theme is “Consumption & Development”. The theme week aims to get students interested in global development questions, and to encourage them to take action to further sustainable development. During the week, themes include considering the downside to a consumption culture and how we could consume in a more ethical and ecological manner.
Monday 3/10
09-16 National kick-off event: mountain of clothes at Educarium lobby. Bring your old clothes and recycle your wardrobe! How big a mountain are we able to build? The clothes will be donated to the Finnish Red Cross after the theme week.
9-16 World Map in Educarium lobby. Place a mark on the map according to where your shirt has been made in. Meet the TYY Committee on Development Cooperation. Coffee and tea.

Mexico -photograph exhibition at Fennicum lobby
This exhibition portraits the life of the Wixarika people (mexican indigenous people).
Organic food week at Unican student cafeterias
Zanzibar Alive -photograph exhibition in Natural Sciences Building I.
The Exibition consists of photos taken during the LIVE-development cooperation project in Zanzibar. The exibition portaits the normal life in Zanzibar.
