TYY Committees
There are seven TYY Committees which act as a link between the Student Union and its members. All of the Committees have elected members but their meetings and events are open to everybody.
TYY Committee on Environmental Issues (Ympäristövaliokunta)
The TYY Committee on Environmental Issues is the most vital component in the environmental sector of the Student Union. The Committee acts in close relation with the Student Union Council and TYY Executive Board. The fundamental goal of the Committee is to organize activities which encourage an ecological way of living and which offers the possibility to learn and discuss topics concerning anything that has to do with the way we treat the world around us.
Everyone is welcome to participate in the activities and meetings organised by the TYY Committee on Environmental Issues. The best way to get to know its current activities development is to contact the chairperson Vesa Niemi (vjniem@utu.fi) or to attend a meeting.
TYY Committee on International Affairs (Kansainvälinen valiokunta)
The TYY Committee on International Affairs organises and provides information about international activities. The Committee actively deals with matters of promoting the interests of international students. Erasmus Student Network (ESN), International Students of Turku Universities (ISTU) and other international associations work in close collaboration with the Committee.
The objectives of the TYY Committee on International Affairs are:
- to promote internationalisation, cultural tolerance and multiculturalism on campus
- to develop the distribution of information in English
- to encourage Finnish students to take part in exchange programs
- to promote contact and socialisation between local and international students
- to uphold an international point of view in the Student Union, on campus and in all of the Committee's activities

TYY Committee on Sub-organizations (Alayhdistysvaliokunta)
The responsibilities of the TYY Committee on Sub-organizations include maintaining active contact with the sub-organizations, linking them with TYY administration through advising, distributing information to the organizations and simply being available. Each organization and association has its own contact person within the Committee. The Committee will formulate a questionnaire for the sub-organizations, the purpose of which is to help TYY develop the services and support it offers for its sub-organizations.

TYY Student Cafeteria Committee (Ravintolavaliokunta)
In accordance with the objectives and standards of the Student Union, the TYY Student Cafeteria Committee oversees the interests of diners of TYY-owned student cafeterias and cafés. The Committee represents the voice of the customer and evaluates the quality of service in cooperation with the CEO of Unica Oy, the TYY Financial Commission and the managers of the cafeterias. The regular work of the Committee includes, for example, coordinating cafeteria questionnaires and training its new members for the following year.
Moreover, each Committee member is responsible for his/her own establishment. The member acts as a link between the Committee, cafeteria or café and customers.
The TYY Student Cafeteria Committee gladly accepts all comments and suggestion pertaining to the operation of student dining establishments. Anyone interested in the Committee is warmly welcome.

TYY Committee on Student Affairs (Edunvalvontavaliokunta)
The TYY Committee on Student Affairs promotes the interests of students in the policies of education, social, well-being and equality. In its meetings, the Committee discusses topical matters concerning student interests, organizes open discussions and takes care of different student interest projects together with other Student Union actors. Important projects for 2008, among others, are the auditing of the University of Turku as well as the merging of the University of Turku and Turku School of Economics. The Committee helps in these projects by being a source of information and by taking part in discussion. In autumn 2008, the TYY Committee on Student Affairs will take part in organizing Well-being Week and will also organize the Living Library event.
